The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum was established in 1991 in Owensboro, Kentucky, as a non-profit repository for the artifacts and collections of bluegrass music. It has since become a fully operational museum serving a global fan base. Currently, the museum houses artifacts, exhibits and memorabilia from the Pioneers of Bluegrass music and is an international resource for researching the bluegrass genre. The museums primary fundraiser ROMP, a multi-day outdoor music festival, has evolved into an award-winning event attended by thousands from around the world. The museum is a small non-profit organization utilizing many grants and individual donors for funding.In addition to public concerts, the museum offers a range of educational programs including group lessons, camps and the Bluegrass in the Schools Program (BITS), where thousands of students are exposed to the music, instruments and history of bluegrass music. The museum is active in promoting the rich history, preserving the past, and promoting the future of bluegrass music.The Accountant for the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will play a central role in capturing, reporting and analyzing financial information for this 501c3 non-profit. The ideal candidate will be well versed in accounting principles with working knowledge of non-profit accounting and the ability to inform business decisions based on financial information.*RESPONSIBILITIES: ** Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements* Perform day-to-day general accounting activities including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll, and bank reconciliation functions* Oversee restricted funds and segregate related expenses* Prepare account analysis to review monthly/quarterly variances between actual and budgeted expenses and to ensure expenses are posted to correct accounts* Participate in preparing annual budget for review and approval by Executive Director and Board of Trustees* Assist in preparation of Treasurers Report, in coordination with Executive Director and Board Treasurer, for all Board Meetings* Assist in preparation of annual audit and IRS Form 990* Assist with grant applications and associated reporting* Provide Human Resources support* Perform other duties as assigned*QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: ** BA in accounting or 5+ years of equivalent accounting experience* QuickBooks experience required* Microsoft Excel experience required* Nonprofit experience required* Proactive professional with bias for action and problem-solving* Detail oriented* Business savvy and ability to recognize the implications of financial data and trends* Strong interpersonal skills* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Outstanding time management and communication skills* Exceptional multitasking skills to manage multiple projects independently and consistently* Comfortable interacting with a diverse group of peopleJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Flexible spending account* Paid time offPhysical setting:* OfficeSchedule:* Monday to FridayEducation:* Bachelor's (Preferred)Experience:* Accounting: 5 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location
