This position is responsible for the reputation and brand of Southern Star and how the company is perceived. This position will be a writer, editor, videographer, photographer, idea generator and creator. Team member must be able to develop relationships (sources) at all levels across and outside of the company including employees, customers, government representatives, media, and public to tell stories visually and/or verbally using all possible tools, platforms, and approaches in a way to inform, educate, celebrate, inspire, or support as appropriate. Must be able to learn, use and recommend communications tools and methods and maximize their use. Will be constantly on the lookout for trends to modernize our communications approach. This role is to make others shine so their exceptionalism is visible.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Executing a consistently comprehensive corporate communications strategy to enhance Southern Star's image, strategies, and goals
• Recommending communication initiatives to increase target audience's knowledge, engagement, and involvement.
• Assisting with writing, proofreading, editing, and/or publishing communications self-created or created by subject matter experts so that product is clear, precise, concise, appropriate, and effective
• Assisting with community outreach and employee events
• Teaching communications basics and/or advanced skills to various audiences
• Assisting with management of all aspects of communications during emergency situations
• Supporting Company's intranet and internet
• Assisting with design and copy for newsletters, flyers, videos, podcasts, social media content, stories, brochures, awareness campaigns, presentations, and all other forms of corporate communications
• Assisting with creation of stock/standard photographs/templates/artwork/forms
• Analyzing website and social media metrics for distribution to leadership
• Responding to community inquiries regarding 811 Public Awareness
• Other duties as assigned
  
  Qualifications
  Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Information Science, or related field
  • 2+ years' experience
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Communicating in a clear, concise, and efficient manner and correctly simplifies and communicates complex concepts
  • Developing social media content for LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Experience with desktop publishing software, MS Office software, Google Analytics, Adobe applications (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere Pro), and web content management platforms(e.g.,Drupal, WordPress)
  • Maintaining confidentiality and recognizing materials requiring confidentiality
  • Meeting multiple deadlines and make decisions and solve problems independently or as part of a team
  • Developing and maintaining successful relationships across all levels
  • Producing and deploying content) for multiple media platforms (ex: company newsletter, social media, etc.) for varied audiences, internal and external
  • Experience creating and deploying effective and appropriate social media content and analyzing and responding to the same for business purposes
  • Experience using social media management tools such as HootSuite
  • Experience with photography and basic graphic design
  • Appropriately and effectively support all aspects of crisis communications working calmly under stress while effectively interacting with othersPreferred
    • Experience in videography
    • Experience in marketing and/or web design
