Job Description:
Position Summary The Sr. Network Engineer reports to the
Director of Infrastructure Services. This position serves as team
lead for Network Services which includes directly supervising three
other team members. Responsible for design, analysis,
implementation and maintenance of network and telecommunications
systems. Works to improve network infrastructure to best serve the
needs of the university while maintaining a secure and highly
available environment. Essential Functions -Strong knowledge of
network switching and routing, including the ability to design
network infrastructure as well as troubleshoot complex issues. Must
include knowledge of Cisco Catalyst and Nexus hardware and
software. - Knowledge of wireless networks, including the ability
to design wireless systems to provide necessary coverage and
density. - Knowledge of voice over IP telephony, including Cisco
Unified Communications systems. - Knowledge of network security and
monitoring systems. Preferred experience with Solarwinds Orion,
Cisco Prime, and Cisco Identity Services Engine. - Management
experience, including the ability to manage employees and
projects.
