OverviewThe national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), based in Louisville Kentucky, serve with mid-councils, congregations, worshipping communities, and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ. Approximately 400 individuals, diverse in race, age, gender, sexual orientation, faith, skills, and more, come together as colleagues to work for a world where justice reigns, peace prevails, and God's love extends to all people. This community comprises the staff of national entities: the Interim Unified Agency, the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women, and the Administrative Services Group.Position Purpose:Ministry Engagement and Support (MES) raises funds to support the mission and ministry of the Interim Unified Agency (IUA) and its successor entity as directed by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PC(USA)). The Associate Director Funds Development leads the team responsible for raising these funds from individuals, congregations, mid-councils, foundations, and corporations. The role is open for remote work for applicants from out of state.

  • Provide strategic direction to the work of the [Funds Development] Team
  • Supervision - Manages the [Funds Development] team including staffing, oversight, evaluation, and development of team members.
  • Major Gifts - Leads the team of fund developers to raise major gifts from individual donors, foundations, and corporations. Establishes processes and goals for the team and for each member.
  • Church Relationships-Leads the team to establish, maintain, and increase funding support for the [IUA] mission and ministries. Establishes processes and goals for the team and each member.
  • Stakeholder Engagement- Develops and nurtures positive relationships with congregations, mid-councils, program areas, and the broader ASG and IUA constituencies.
  • Administration- Responsible for budget oversight
  • Reporting- Regularly communicates progress on goals to management and boards.
  • Other duties as assigned.Essential Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, master's degree preferred
  • Experience in leading a team; strong supervisory skills
  • Experience in all aspects of funds development
  • Experience in funds development in religious/non-profit organizations Track record of achieving funds development goals
  • Strong presentation communication skills, writing and speaking - one-to-one and groups appropriate knowledge of technology leadership
  • Understanding of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)Required Competencies:

        • Regular travel, primarily for client meetings and ministry events, is expected for this role at 25% of the time.
        • This is largely a sedentary position that may require occasional filing and lifting to 15 pounds. Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, type, write, walk, stand, bend and lift.
        • Sensory and physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally in person and through technology.
