Job Description:
Position Summary: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the
Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design,
engineering, and project management of electrical and systems
projects. This role also involves providing essential electrical
support for mechanical and process-related initiatives. The
Electrical Engineer is entrusted with tasks such as DCS hardware
maintenance, software development, contractor management, and the
continuous improvement of engineering systems and workflows. This
position requires the development of specifications, scoping, and
cost estimates for electrical projects. Troubleshooting and problem
resolution of electrical systems, as well as project management for
projects ranging from small to large (up to $15 million), are
integral components of this role. The Electrical Engineer is
responsible for guiding projects from inception to completion,
ensuring design safety, process safety, contractor safety, and
safety during start-up. Collaboration is essential, as this role
involves leading project teams that include members from
operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors.
Additionally, the Electrical Engineer assists the Maintenance
Department in maintaining equipment throughout the mill.Key
Responsibilities:Design and engineer electrical/system projects and
manage project activities.Provide electrical support for mechanical
and process-related projects.Maintain DCS hardware and assist with
DCS software development and revisions.Manage contractors and
participate in engineering systems and workflow
improvements.Develop specifications, scoping, and cost estimates
for electrical projects.Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system
issues.Manage projects of varying sizes, up to $15 million.Oversee
all project phases, from problem definition to start-up and results
verification.Ensure design safety, process safety, and contractor
safety.Lead project teams with diverse stakeholders.Assist the
Maintenance Department in equipment
maintenance.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical
Engineering (BSEE).Minimum of five (5) years of experience in
Industrial Manufacturing applications.Strong commitment to
corporate, plant, and industrial safety standards.Experience in
Motor Controls (480V, 2300V), AC Adjustable Frequency Drives,
Programmable Controllers, Power Distribution (12470V and Down),
Contractor Supervision, shutdown planning and execution, Electrical
Design, Project Management, National Electrical Code, and
specifying process instrumentation and control valves.Ability to
engineer multiple projects and coordinate field installations and
start-ups.Proficient in electrical troubleshooting.Willingness and
ability to respond to after-hours emergencies on an on-call
basis.Assertive, energetic, with excellent interpersonal and
communication skills.Collaborative mindset, capable of working with
production, maintenance, and construction teams to develop project
scopes and execution plans.Preferred Knowledge (not required):Pulp
and paper process control experience.Experience with high voltage
power distribution and utility pole installation and design.Pulp
and Paper Project Management experience.Familiarity with GE
Magneblast and Power-Vac Switchgear, Allen-Bradley PLC-5, SLC500,
Control Logix Programmable Controllers, ABB Distributed Control
Systems, Microsoft (MS) Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD Software,
High and Medium Voltage Switchgear, ABB DC and AC drives, AB Power
Flex 700 drives, Rosemount Instrumentation, Fisher Control Valves,
and other Automatic Valves.
