Mon-Fri 9:30-6p Position Overview The Patient Access Scheduler is
responsible for performing clerical and reception duties related to
patient scheduling and registration. This role serves as the first
point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in
delivering an excellent patient experience. The ideal candidate
thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages high call volumes
efficiently, and demonstrates strong customer service,
organization, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Serve
as the first point of contact for patients via phone and in person.
Manage a high volume of incoming calls while maintaining
professionalism and accuracy. Schedule patient visits and
procedures across multiple hospitals and outpatient centers while
adhering to departmental protocols. Respond to patient questions
and concerns, directing inquiries to the appropriate department as
needed. Maintain ongoing communication with clinical staff
regarding real-time patient status. Collaborate with medical staff
and departments to optimize scheduling efficiency. Navigate and
multitask across multiple technology systems simultaneously.
Collect and accurately enter demographic, clinical, billing, and
insurance information. Educate patients on procedure preparation
and scheduling instructions following established protocols. Inform
patients of co-pays, deductibles, and financial responsibilities
due at time of service. Review and communicate financial and
registration information with patients and business office staff.
Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical teams, ancillary
departments, nursing units, and patients. Perform additional duties
and special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications High
School Diploma or GED required Minimum of 1 year of call center
experience Strong customer service and communication skills High
attention to detail and organizational ability Ability to multitask
and navigate multiple computer systems simultaneously Experience
handling a high volume of inbound calls Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment supporting
patients Working knowledge of medical terminology Physical
Requirements Ability to see, read, and operate computers,
telephones, and office equipment. Ability to sit, stand, or walk
for extended periods while performing job duties. Frequent verbal
communication with patients, providers, and staff requiring clear
speaking and active listening. Manual dexterity for frequent
computer use and documentation. Ability to assist with transporting
or ambulating patients and distributing supplies and equipment,
including pushing or pulling gurneys and equipment weighing over 5
lbs.
