MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience
  • KY Administrative Certification (preferred)
  • DPP Certification (preferred) REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinates and oversees the District's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) plan by providing strategic leadership that promotes a culture of equality for all students, families, faculty, staff, and the OPS community. Also, serves as the Assistant Director of Student Services (Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel) to ensure student compliance with school attendance laws and acts as liaison between students/families/applicable court agencies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Leads District's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan by evaluating systems/processes, assessing strategies, and implementing change as needed to increase awareness, understanding, and collaboration
    • Develop collaborative relationships with community resources and organizations to develop, promote, and lead the district in relation to diversity, equity, and inclusion (dei)
    • Design and coordinate professional development and training for certified and non-certified employees in line with the Districti's DEI plan
    • Assist the District and schools in resolving educational and diversity issues affecting educators, students, parents, and community members
    • Assist Principals, Teachers, and all other applicable faculty members in creating culturally supportive learning environments that ensure high expectations for the academic achievement of all students
    • Provides instructional recommendations, strategies, and support
    • Serves as the first point of contact for any DEI-related issue.
    • Conduct demographics and enrollment research in support of increasing student achievement
    • Consults with CAO and Superintendent and other personnel on inquiries related to the support and implementation of SBDM, equity, and the effective two-way communication of pertinent and relative matters
    • Coordinates trainings for the SBDM council members as needed
    • Participate and facilitate workshops, meetings, community events, etc. for collaborating, sharing, and /or presenting information
    • Prepares various written materials (ex.reports, memos, handouts, etc.) for documenting activities, provided written reference, and/or conveying information; gathers data and disseminates to appropriate parties to ensure effectiveness and continuous progress related to District's DEI Plan
    • Disseminate related information from Kentucky Department of Education and other applicable agencies as applies to diversity, equity, and inclusion
    • Support school-level administration on equity related issues for effective administration of all aspects of District's DEI Plan
    • Provide data driven strategies that address equitable practices for improving student experiences and achievements and to actively close opportunity gaps
    • Assists in development, implementation, and continued application of personnel policies, practices, and procedures including but not limited to recruitment, training, and retention of certified and non-certified staff, as related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
    • Assists school-level administrators with strategies, practices, and policy development that foster increased recruiting, hiring and retention of a diverse staff
    • Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment where equity, diversity, and inclusion is at the core of the value proposition
    • Support the engagement of family and community partners in various academic, instructional, social and emotional supportive services
    • Respond to emergency and/or crisis situations as required; serves as directed by the CAO or Superintendent
    • Provides mentor opportunities and support to students who are not working to capacity
    • Assist in the enforcement of student attendance laws and make home visits of students who are experiencing attendance struggles
    • Conduct conferences with students, families, teachers, and administrators when student attendance, social, and behavioral issues arise
    • Participate in disciplinary and attendance hearings as directed by the the Director of Student Services
    • Maintain a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy, and overall administrative regulations
    • Assists Director of Student Services with other duties as assigned
    • All other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the CAO and Superintendent WORK ENVIRONMENT: Subject to both indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor environments. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. Travel amongst buildings, student homes, local agencies, etc. required. Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds scents, and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
      • Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, talking, bending, pushing, moving throughout the day
      • Light physical demand with some lifting of up to 25lbs
      • Hand and finger dexterity
      • Repetitive movements TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
        • Less than 20% out of the district
